What?

[mood|ham]
[music|Sounds of the SFA Library]

So, I was going to correct the last page of my math test in order to get bonus points, but then I realised that I can't do it... at all...
Apparently I missed the day we talked about this stuff. Oh well, I'll just study hard for our next test and the final and everything will be hunky dorey.
I really, really hate math. Math has little or no point for me. I mean, what practical application is there for complex numbers, seriously? i is not a real number, you guys. Math is like mental masturbation, really... a way to define things, only the definition also defines itself so that, in the end, you are defining something with a system that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I know, that made no sense. Numbers are good in the sense that they help us to express quantities, and some equations are good in that they help us express the relationship between two or more quantities; but when you start developing scientific theories which are based completely on mathematics, that's just... pointless, in my mind. I really hate math -- I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

My mom and I are going to Canton this weekend for Trade Days, w00t. The website doesn't make it look like much, but it seriously rules. Anything you could ever possibly want is there. I like the animal section best, because it's just good fun to look at Jacob's sheep and zebra mice and whatnot. There's also a place at Trade Days that sells furrs and other dead animal parts. That's one of my favourite places. Oh, and let's not forget the food! Typical flea market gourmet items like turkey legs, bloomin' onions, funnel cakes, and fried green tomatoes can be purchased at Canton. It's going to be a fun weekend.

I don't feel like going back to class, but I suppose I must. There's nothing I'd rather do than leave here right now, go get something to eat (such as chicken ranchero soft tacos from Taco Bell,) and go home for some good ol' Gunbound fun. I went home for a nap between classes yesterday, but Circe kept me from taking it by kneading her claws and walking all over me. I love that cat, and I know she just wants to be close to me, but I had to lock her outside my bedroom this morning because she woke up and wanted to play... with my face... while I was sleeping. I'm going to draw a comic about that, because she has this annoying habit of sticking her feet on my mouth or in my eyes.

EDIT: A cop waved at me today. Considering that I doubt cops normally wave at every single car they pass, I figure there must have been some special reason he waved at me... and that reason was probably that I was going 70 in a 55 zone, but he didn't pull me over.

Chainroaker is obviously a superior comic... and also, I have seen Maffi on his webcamzz0rs.

Yes, that is a tampon... I think.

It's back!! Thank you, Jesus!

[mood|thankful]
[music|Kitten-playing-with-puzzle-pieces]

Soooo, my internet has been down for at least three days... yep. I even made the effort to reinstall it, but of course, that didn't help. Apparently the satellite company was having some issues. Unless it goes down again, I will be on Yahoo later today, but I just woke up and want to sit on the couch a while after I write this.

Circe has been the sweetest cat ever! She follows me around, is sure not to use her claws when she plays with me, and is just oh-so-cute. She has been sleeping in bed with me, too (dog on one side, cat on the other.) I let my animals sleep under the covers.... Hey, as long as they don't have fleas, I don't see the problem. I had to take Circe to the veterinarian on Thursday, and she just fell asleep in my lap on the ride there and back. I felt like a bad person for taking her, because they gave her two shots and did various other "mean things" (as the vet called them) like taking her temperature. Oh well, it had to be done. If she thinks that trip was bad, just wait until we have to get her spayed in a couple of months! She hadn't eaten anything between Thurday and today, which worried me, but she ate a lot this morning, so she should be ok. Maybe the shots just made her feel bad or something... she's getting her adult set of teeth in, too, so that might be what's bothering her.
That's all the news I've got... Woo, I have internet!

Edit: Oh, and my dad bought the cat a cat condo... WTF. My dad... bought a cat condo. For those of you who don't know my dad, he hates cats. This is absolutely against his nature. Not only that, but he actually talks to Circe and lets her sit on his lap. I'm beginning to think that my real dad has been abducted by aliens and replaced by a robitic cat-loving dad.

Circe the puzzle fiend:

New kitty!!

[mood|ecstatic]
[music|Nada]

I finally got a new cat!! First Little Cat disappeared, then Anise was euthanized, then I went to the animal shelter yesterday and saw a beautiful adult cat... but she was gone today, either euthanized (she had been sneezing) or adopted out. However, in her place was a scared little grey and white ball of fluff. I spent at least an hour with my arm in its cage trying to coax it out, but when it finally let me hold it, it just went limp in my arms... so sweet! I couldn't chance it disappearing on me like the other two shelter cats, so I went ahead and adopted it without mom knowing. I had to go back to SFA for math class, but after that class was over, I got mom to go to the shelter with me to pick up my new cat. I'm so glad I got her! She's a wonderful lap cat, but also has an attitude and is into everything. She slept in my lap in the car the whole drive home, and is asleep in my lap right now. I've tentatively named her Circe, but that could change...

Three Things stolen from Tristan, Huge-Ass Survey (dear sweet Jesus) stolen from Megan.

Three things I am wearing right now:
1. Glasses
2. Skin
3. Pajamas with goldfish in bags on them... weird, huh?

Three things I don't like about my body:

2. I'm really, really sensitive about a lot of things and cry easily.
3. Despite my answer to #2, it's incredibly hard to hurt my feelings (but I suppose that one's not a secret.) I cry about kittens getting hurt and stuff... not about people calling me names.

[|No mood today, sorry.]
[music|Nightmare Before Christmas - This is Halloween]

I haven't been online much lately because I've been doing this thing called sleeping. I used to do it sometimes, but usually not at night, which is the new thing I've been trying. I tend to start out by falling asleep on the couch, because I'm used to doing that, but then when I wake up I go straight to bed rather than getting online for a few hours.
I'm actually pretty down today. I found a beautiful kitten at the animal shelter... I spent at least three hours playing with her over the course of three days, and on Thurday I spent over an hour just holding her while she slept. I went to adopt her on Friday, and was met with a sign which read "No cats 4 adoption today!" I asked why. Apparently, most of the cats had gotten some sort of upper respiratory infection and they euthanized all but about five of them, my little girl included. I had already picked out a name for her, and I had promised her I was going to take her home. She was brought to the shelter as a stray, and unwanted her whole life... then put down before she ever got to know that someone did actually want her.

Today, my mom and I went to the local flea market and didn't see anything interesting, as usual. We bought a "Christmas spider," which was a spider made of some pretty beads. I ate a turkey leg and had some of the best lemonade I've had in years... I swear, it totally rocked my socks. After the flea market, we went to Walmart and I bought a new florescent aquarium hood to replace my old incandescent one. What a difference that makes!!! It's so much brighter in that tank now! We also bought some more cantaloupe ice cream, w00t.

Here's a picture of Anise that I stole from Petfinder.com because the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter hasn't updated their pet list in weeks. I think of her as my cat, even though I never got to take her home... She's the grey tabby.

WTF again.

[mood|infuriated]
[music|Nick Cave - Do You Love Me?]

I'm using the infuriated mood because there's no animation for horrified.
I mean, just look at this. Dyed chicks (the baby chicken variety, not the hot girl variety.)
Isn't that just fucking terrible? Sure they're cute, but they're probably going to die long before they reach adulthood. That dye is not good for them... and it looks as though they were just dipped in a vat of dye, which I'm sure is the case (EDIT: Ok, so I looked it up and they actually inject the dye into the egg before the chick is born, but still.) They used to sell dyed chicks at a local pet shop, and I bought one when I was about six. It died two weeks later. I actually live/lived on a farm, so it's not like we just didn't know how to raise chickens... we had plenty of others. In addition to being cruel, dying chicks makes people want to buy them... without realising that they're one day going to be full grown, normal coloured chickens. That dye comes out as soon as they get their adult feathers. Where are most people going to keep a full grown chicken? In their apartment? I guess that's not an issue, since they're not going to live that long in most cases anyway.
By the way, there is a post before this.

[mood|blah]
[music|Sounds of the SFA Library]

Ok, I like to pretend that I'm not much for politics, but the fact is that politicians irritate the crap out of me, and do so to the point that I can't help but be interested. I mean, they'll do anything to further their cause -- which I can understand -- but the fact that they tell such horrible lies sometimes just makes my blood boil. It's ok to lie about future tax cuts and whatnot, but to tell the American people that they simply cannot go back to a state of living in which they are not in constant fear is just awful.

"[Kerry] said that, like prostitution and illegal gambling, terrorism will never go away, 'but we're going to reduce it ... to a level where it isn't on the rise. It isn't threatening people's lives every day.'"

"Cheney, at a campaign stop in New Jersey, called Kerry's stance 'part of a pre-9/11 mindset we cannot go back to.'" - CNN.com

Oh really? I would like to know why not. Why can't we go back to having some peace of mind? Why can't we go back to living our lives without paranoia? Why can't we go back to worrying about turbulence when we take a flight, rather than whether or not our plane is going to be hijacked or blown apart? Because Bush won't get reelected if we're not afraid, that's why. His campaign also made an issue of Kerry comparing terrorism to prostitution and illegal gambling, as though Kerry was saying that mass murder is no more terrible than playing poker with your buddies on Saturday night. I think we all know that's not the comparison he was making, though I'm sure those in full, mindless support of Bush will be glad to believe that (not to say that all those who support Buch are mindless... mindless support is never a good thing, no matter who your vote is destined for.) Kerry was simply saying that we can not eliminate terrorism completely. I would be extremely afraid if Bush thought otherwise. Come on... the first step is to have a realistic perspective. We are never going to be able to police the entire world, I'm sorry. There's always going to be murder, terrorism, and yes, prostitution. Kerry, it seems, is for a return to a way of life in which we are not afraid to fly; where we are kept safe without being locked in a protective cage. I, for one, would be glad to have someone like that in office.

Quiet songs are annoying

[mood|peaceful]
[music|Tattle Tale - Glass Vase Cello Case]

What I mean by the title is that the volume on this mp3 is really low, and I don't feel like downloading something to fix that... so I just turn the volume on my computer up, but then all my sound effects are annoyingly loud. The song is worth it, though.
I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people don't know how to deal well with emotional issues, and prefer to avoid it whenever possible. I know I'm not good at it, but I'm getting a little better, at least. I consider it a major step that I'm not afraid to confront emotion anymore. I'm also not afraid to express my own emotions, though I try not to cry or freak out in front of others because it makes them uncomfortable. I just don't understand why people don't talk about these things, you know? It seems like it should come naturally. I want to write papers about how I feel. I want to write about what sunsets are like, and rainy days... I want to write about what it's like for me to watch my fish, and what it's like to live in a town I'm not entirely happy with. I will, too; all in good time. My English professor will glady grade any paper, no matter what it's about, so my writing won't be worthless, either.
I regret not being emotionally open with all my friends, and the irony is that I'm most open with the ones I see the least. I guess it's pretty normal for people to be more open with strangers, though; they feel like they have less to lose. David and I can talk about almost anything, but even though Megan is a better friend (sorry David, but we talked about how our friendship is weird, so you already know this,) I don't feel like I can talk to her about some of my more personal issues. She doesn't open up to me either, so I guess the feeling is mutual.
Kat, I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me.

[music|Rasputina - Dollhouse]

I made a political cartoon which is too big to post in this window. You should probably go look at it because it doesn't make sense.
Edit: Does America look like the fat kid to anyone else?

[mood|distressed]
[music|Boa - Duvet]

Webct says I made a 42 on my Human Sexuality quiz, meaning I only got 21 questions out of 50 correct. There is absolutely no way in Hell that is possible. We get two tries on each 10 question quiz we take. On the first quiz, I got a D on my first try because I missed a day during that section and the answers to some of the things he went over weren't in the book, but I got an A on my second try. The second two quizzes I made A+'s on my first try after studying for less than 30 minutes. Now then, the test is composed of roughly the same questions, and I studied several hours for it... While taking it, I was confident that I was doing well and would make no less than an 80. I even finished 10 minutes early, though there was a thunderstorm the night before which caused my electric alarm clock not to go off that morning and I arrived 20 minutes late. Someone explain to me how this is possible!! The only thing I can think of that would cause this is if I misnumbered or something, which I am always very careful not to do.
On our scantrons, we were supposed to bubble in our Webct username and write our real names, but some people did this wrong, so the intern was forced to enter all the grades by hand. God, I hope she screwed up and that's the explanation for all this, otherwise I've gone completely fucking mad.

My brain hurts

[mood|blank]
[music|Nick Cave - The Weeping Song]

I went to bed early last night because I felt a migraine coming on. I woke up this morning and still had it... it wasn't very painful, but it made me nauseous, so I couldn't take any medicine for it. I had no choice but to skip class, which I would rather not have done because I had a paper to write in English, accidentally skipped Human Sexuality yesterday too (turned my alarm clock off in my sleep,) and had a major test in Biology. Thank God Dr. Gibson allows us to make up tests if we miss them. I think he's my only professor that lets us do that. It actually works out pretty well, because the migraine prevented me from studying for that test last night. I'll probably make a better grade this way.
At this point, I've basically given up all hope of Little Cat coming back. I'll miss him perching on the back of the couch while I nap.
