I figured I'd give you people a post, since I haven't done so in quite a while. It's going ot be short, though, because it's 4:00 AM and I'm sleepy.
Yesterday my mom picked up my grandmother and brought her here to spend Christmas with us. I love grandmother, but I don't love not having a guest bed. I hate sleeping on the couch, and my bed is big enough for two, so I usually just sleep in there with her. The problem is that she snores, and last night, she was literally moving every 6 seconds. I timed it. It was like clockwork, and almost frightening how good her timing was. Kick, wait 6 seconds; fluff pillow, wait 6 seconds; wallow around trying to get comfortable; wait 6 seconds; repeat. My bed is going to smell like old person for several days now, even if I change the sheets. As much as I hate sleeping on the couch, I might do so tonight just so I can actually get some freakin' sleep.
My niece, nephew, brother, and his wife all came over for Christmas today. The small ones were less annoying than usual, which is nice. My niece asked me to let her feed the fish about 402583920840283401 times, though. She started to argue with me that overfeeding them wouldn't hurt, until I told her they'd eat so much they'd literally explode. She was also scared of the fuzzy blue head in my closet. I'll admit, that thing is insanely creepy. It's probably a good thing she didn't see the kitten in a jar... I wonder if I need to add some alcohol to that thing yet?
Presents I received:
- computer (a few months earlier, because Dell was having a sale)
- cute fox stuffed animal
- lotion, shower gel, and other stuff that all girls supposedly love but I rarely use
- cool new chair thingy for my room
- little floofy pillow shaped like a stick-man... guy.
- Edgar Allan Poe action figure
- fuzzy slippers
- a migraine
- $100 from grandmother, $100 from brother & his family
- Doom 3
- a framed photo of my other brother who lives in California and his girlfriend... from them, of course. They are bizarre gift-givers.
I'm going to use the money toward a new tank, incase you couldn't have guessed. Circe got three fuzzy rattling balls and three catnip mice for Christmas, huzzah.

I went to grandmother's house yesterday and set up her fish tank for her as a Christmas gift. She seems like she really likes it, and I know I like it. I want to steal it. I hope she's going to be able to keep those fish alive... I got her gouramis, because mom didn't want to get her something smaller like mollies. I wanted to get grandmother mollies because they're practically indestructible, but nooooo, mom insisted on the larger, far more fragile, dwarf gouramis. I put some old filter media from my tank into grandmother's tank in hopes of giving the nitrogen cycle a kick-start. If the gouramis don't die between now and the next time I go to grandmother's and can clean her tank for her (which will be at least two weeks from now,) then they'll probably make it. The tank also has a couple of yo-yo loaches and otos, which are super cute. I'll take pics of the tank next time I visit grandmother -- not that anyone who reads this cares.
No one on the Tropical Fish Forums seems to know exactly what my new fish is. I think it's a sweetheart blood parrot/midas hybrid, but everyone has their own opinion. The consensus seems to be that it's mostly midas, but I have never in my life seen a tail-less midas. I guess we'll see what it is when it gets a little bigger... whether it morphs into a blood parrot-looking thing, or stays more midas-esque. It definitely has midas in it, but it definitely has something else, too *lol*
Whatever it is, it's cute.
I feel like I should have some non-fishy news as well, but there's not much to tell. I went to my nephew's 6th birthday party on Saturday at the roller-skating rink. I watched children skate and fall down a lot, which was kinda funny. My niece "skated," too, but the wheels on her skates were locked, so she was really just walking around. She thought she was skating, though -- she even fell down like she was skating! Going to the skating rink proved to me that nothing ever changes in this town. It still looked the exact same, and they still played the same old music (plus a few new ones, like a "Who Let the Dogs Out?" remix.)
I'm all headachey, so this post ends. No more updatey for you.

Circe came home from the vet today... we took her up there yesterday to get her spayed. She doesn't feel bad at all, apparently, because she has been playing with her toys ever since she got home.
Megan came over today and we played some old Sega Sonic games (compiled for PS2.) OMG, Mean Bean Machine is a fun game. I also gave Meg her Christmas present, since I wasn't sure I was going to see her again before the 25th... it was a crazy cat lady action figure that I found at Hastings. I still need to give Kat her present, but I imagine I'll have a chance to do so when she gets back from her trip.
Short update, sorry.

You scored as True Neutral. A True Neutral person has two faces- either these people are merely apathetic, preferring to focus their minds on more important things, or these people truly believe in a balance of all things. To these people, there can be no light without some darkness. These people also have no dedication to, or intrinsic distrust of, laws.

Mom and I went Christmas shopping in Lufkin today, because I needed something to cheer me up.
Yes, I ran over my own dog yesterday. I'm not too terribly broken up right now, because it doesn't seem real. Hopefully it won't ever.
I literally hit her in the last two feet of my drive home. I was pulling into my parking spot at around 5:30PM when I felt a thump. I figured it was just a big rock or something, but when Lucy didn't greet me when I opened my door, I think I knew. It didn't hit me until I saw her lying directly being my rear tire, though. At the time I thought she might still be ok, but I knew the vet was closed for the weekend, so all I could think of to do was to call mom and dad. Neither of them answered their cell phones. When I went to check on her again, I realised she was dead. Nothing can lose that much blood and still live. I didn't know what to do, so I just wrapped her in a couple of towels, at first. She didn't look bad at all; thank God for that. She looked like she always had, only her left side was covered in blood. I stood around in the yard for a few minutes before deciding to bury her. It probably took me at least 30 minutes to dig a deep enough hole. Afterwards, I went inside, washed my hands, and just cried on the couch until mom got home.
I know it's not my fault. God knows I'd never have done it if I could have prevented it... and it wasn't like I was going fast at all. I don't know what happened that prevented her from getting out of the way. Maybe she was just getting old and slow. At least I know it was an instant death, and she didn't suffer. I'm going to miss her like Hell, though. I've lived fewer years without her than I have with her, so this is going to be a hard thing for me to get used to. Losing two pets in one year is not fun.
I'm going to miss you, Loo Bug.

That's right, I registered for spring classes. Getting advised sucks, because apparently, everyone expects you to take as many of your basics as humanly possible during your freshman year... but it's funny, because what I'm hearing from "those who have gone before" is that you need to take some classes you actually enjoy to lighten the load so you don't get burned out and fail. That's the road I was planning to take anyway, and no matter how much Dr. Wiggers wants me to take botany, chemisty, and statistics at the same time, I am sticking to my guns. I'm planning to space out my basics, but still get them all done in reasonable time by taking some of the sucky ones (like chemistry,) during the summer. I still decided to take 16 hours, though, dispite my previous claims that I was going to take no more than 13. Here's my schedule, for your pleasure:
Intro Probability and Statistics -- MWF -- 9:00-9:50AM -- Cunningham
Elementary Latin -- MWF -- 10:00-10:50AM -- Smith
Evolution -- MWF -- 11:00-11:50AM -- Pratt
Philosophy of Love and Sex -- MW -- 2:30-3:45PM -- Padron
Introductory Botany -- TR -- 9:30-10:45AM -- Pratt
Botany Lab -- T -- 11:00-12:50PM -- Sullivan

I am going to try to get advised for class registration today, since registration actually begins today. The problem, though, is that I have to go to Dr. Wiggers to get advised, and his office hours are during my classes. Luckily for me, my Human Sexuality class was canceled today, and I could go find Dr. Wiggers' office. Unluckily for me, he was in a meeting until 1:00, which is when my Zoology lecture begins. I'm going to drop by his office again at 12:45, just incase he decides to show up early. I figure it wouldn't hurt to be a little late to Zoology, and I would certainly feel better if I could get advised today. I would go after class, but Dr. Wiggers' office hours are over by then.
I turned in my English paper today... the one that was due Friday. I don't know why, but I only went to class one day last week. I think it's the same thing that happened to me during high school -- when I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I just give up, thinking that I can probably make the last of the journey without much effort. Monday I actually meant to go to class, but my alarm clock either didn't go off, I turned it off in my sleep, or I slept through it. The same thing happened today, actually. I turned off my alarm after it went off, but I was so tired that it didn't click in my mind that, hey, that sound means wake up. I was ready to roll over and go back to sleep, but then my dog wanted to go outside. Only then did I realise that the alarm had gone off, and it was time to get up. Anyway, whether or not the paper I turned in today gets graded is based on whether or not Dr. Duncan has enough time to read it. He said he had gotten a lot of papers in recently, since everyone is trying to turn them in at the last minute... I should have semi-jokingly told him to put mine on the top of the stack.
Before I go to Hell (also known as Zoology Lab) today, I'm planning on dropping by Walmart to check out the bettas, like I always go. After Hell, I'll probably go buy a clown loach at the pet shop, if I feel like it. I need a bottom feeder big enough that my oscar can't eat it.

Today I set up my 29 gallon tank, and my oscar and bichir are now swimming around happily. That tank is fine for now, but they're definitely going to need something bigger in a year or so... if even that long.
My obsession with Hellsing has been rekindled thanks to reading the mangas. Evidence of this can be found on my desktop. I found plenty of Hellsing desktop themes I could have downloaded, but I wasn't really happy with any of the icon sets... so I made my own with images supplied by Google -- and yes, I do have a folder called "Lots -O- Stuff." I also made an icon for my blog, which you may or may not be able to see. It shows up for me, but Kat can't see it, so who knows.
