[mood|excited]
[music|Nick Cave - Do You Love Me?]

Yeah ok, so I never update anymore. I'm always busy... but not busy doing anything that's interesting enough to mention here. For the last four weeks or so I've been mailing out packages full of baby bettas. That's right, my spawn is old enough to go to new homes. I started out with 198 and have around 75 left, some of which are getting shipped tomorrow. I'm gonna enter the best few in the upcoming betta show this October. I've been giving the juvies away for the price of shipping to people on the fish forum, but some of them have been nice enough to send extra, so it feels like I'm making money if I try not to think about how much I've spent on dechlorinator, plastic containers to jar the males, and food. At any rate, I have enough money in my Paypal account to buy myself a treat... and I decided to go for some Betta albimarginata. They're hideously expensive, but relatively easy to breed, so I can sell their hideously expensive offspring. This makes me feel more justified in buying them, but really, I just want them because they're gorgeous and I've wanted a pair for a long, long time. I'm going for a reverse trio, two males and one female, because the males are the ones who hold the eggs and I'll have a backup if one decides to habitually swallow the eggs. They're mouth brooders, by the way, and the males hold the eggs in their mouths until they hatch. They're being shipped into the country from Thailand this weekend.

Also, I got a new pet. Meet Petri, the Pacific parrotlet. He's hand raised and the cutest little thing ever! He's the size of a parakeet, but a lot more intelligent. He's totally spoiled, can ya tell?
